KEY POINTS:
Play was to resume at 1pm after persistent rain forced a suspension during the second round of the New Zealand PGA Championship at Clearwater Golf Club in Christchurch today.
Officials decided to temporarily stop play at about 11.20am, with the early groups midway through their back nine holes.
Rain had fallen all morning with a thick cloud cover blanketing the course.
The best round today was emerging from Canadian Jon Mills, who was four-under-par through seven holes to be two-under for the championship.
The overnight leaders were not due to tee off until mid-afternoon, among them American Ryan Howison, who posted a seven-under 65 in perfect conditions yesterday.
