New Zealand golfer Craig Perks admits he is considering giving the game away.
He is fighting on through his worst career slump on the USPGA tour, having made just one cut in 15 starts this year. Last weekend in Mississippi he walked away from a PGA event after the opening round for the first time, having shot a staggering 13 over par 85.
For now, Perks will continue playing but says he has to rediscover his form quickly.
He concedes he is at his lowest ebb confidence wise, and says it is a self fulfilling prophecy, in that expecting to play poorly leads to hitting bad shots.
Perks has one more year exempt on the PGA Tour but says if he can not find some form he will quit. He says he has worked on all aspects of the game but has no confidence at the moment and it is tough going in that he is putting in all the effort and getting nothing out of it.
The 2002 Players Championship win in the US is now a distant memory for Perks.
On the bright side, Perks has confirmed he will play in December's New Zealand Open at Gulf Harbour, which is the first time he has played here since the 2002 Open at Paraparaumu.
