New Zealand Golf Association chairman John Patterson wants to keep both his chief executive Peter Dale and national director of coaching Mal Tongue.
He said today he hoped a coaches' meeting and a mediation process today and tomorrow would resolve the matter before Thursday's board meeting.
Though Patterson believes a personal fallout between Tongue and Dale had plunged the sport's administration into a crisis, both men could be retained to continue their roles.
Tongue and his five assistants resigned last week. The assistants handed in their resignation in support of Tongue, who said the fallout was deeper than a personality clash but has declined to elaborate.
Dale resigned as well on Friday, saying his action was for the good of golf.
Asked on National Radio this morning if both men could work together again Patterson said: "Why not?
"We have two very passionate golf people here, I'm sure we can find some ways to get both parties together again," he said.
"My option would be to get them back together."
Patterson, a retired Ashburton businessman, took over as acting chief executive yesterday and is working with Dale to manage the transition of information, workload and issues for board discussion.
"My primary task and intent is to lead the New Zealand Golf Association into a period of relative calm, effectiveness and efficiency," he said yesterday.
