KEY POINTS:
New Zealand Golf is looking to the future with a new-look team named for next month's Southern Cross Cup quadrangular international event in Argentina.
Auckland's Leighton James and Christchurch's Andrew Searle, who were both involved in recent national squad selection, will be joined by Tauranga newcomers Jared Pender and Kevin Smith.
They will face Australia, South Africa and Argentina in a biennial matchplay event at the Martindale Country Club on November 15-17.
NZG high performance manager David Graham said the selections were part of a development programme to grow the talent pool while looking ahead to next year's Eisenhower Trophy world amateur teams championship.
Incumbents Danny Lee, James Gill, Troy Ropiha and Nick Gillespie have played extensive international golf this year, and the Southern Cross Cup gives NZG a chance to expand its playing base.
