The New Zealand PGA Golf Championship has a new sponsor.
International banking and financial services company HSBC has signed on as the naming rights sponsor for the next three years at the Clearwater Golf Club in Christchurch.
The US$600,000 event is co-sanctioned on the Australasian PGA Tour and the US PGA Nationwide Tour.
HSBC New Zealand chief executive Norman Wilson says the company is delighted to sponsor the tournament.
HSBC is a major sponsor of golf worldwide, including the World Match Play Championship in the UK, and the Champions Tournament in Shanghai.
The winner of the New Zealand tournament will qualify for Shanghai, which is the largest event on the Asian circuit with a prize pool of $5,000,000.
The 2007 NZPGA will be held at the Clearwater Golf Club in Christchurch on February 22-25.
