KEY POINTS:
The New Zealand golf team is in reasonable shape as today's second round of golf's Eisenhower Trophy in Adelaide gets underway.
Three late birdies from Danny Lee yesterday saved what looked to be an ordinary day for the New Zealanders. He finished at three-under par which is also the team's score as Jared Pender fired an even par 73. James Gill was the non-counting player with a one over par round of 74.
New Zealand sits in a tie for sixth, seven shots off the lead and has some ground to make up on day two on the easier Grange course.
Lee says all going well, he is planning to be a little more aggressive today after his opening round of 70. Lee points out that he could have gone a lot better yesterday, but he was off target on the greens and he will be putting in plenty of practice on the putting greens ahead of today's round. He says he putted okay but he missed a couple of short par and birdie putts so that was a bit disappointing.
Gill is expecting much better things today. He said they can definitely close the gap if the ball rolls their way today, as it did for the Americans on day one. He points out that there are more opportunities for birdies on the Grange course so if they put it together they can creep up the leaderboard.
