New Zealand golfer James Gill has finished in a tie for fifth at the British Amateur champs after shooting an even-par 72 in atrocious weather conditions at Turnberry in Scotland.
The Waikato player, with a strokeplay total of 145, is one of 64 qualifiers out of a field of 288 in the matchplay champs.
The cut was made at 150, with England's Sam Hutsby the winner at 139.
Gill's fellow Kiwi James Hamilton, 19, who was sixth after his first round, missed the cut by two.
