Kiwi golfers Grant Moorhead and Ben Campbell are in contention heading into the weekend of the NSW Open at the Newcastle Golf Club in Sydney.
New Plymouth professional Moorhead, a member of he victorious Eisenhower Trophy team in 1992, is three shots back of leader Paul Donahoo of Australia after shooting a two under par 68 yesterday, leaving him tied for third at three under par after two rounds.
Amateur Ben Campbell climbed into a share of sixth place, a further shot back, after posting a four under par 66 on day two. Otago professional Mahal Pearce, the last Kiwi to win the New Zealand Open, is in a share of ninth, one under par overall.
David Klein, Joshua Carmichael and Doug Holloway were the other New Zealanders to make the cut. Professionals Peter Spearman Burn, Hamish Robertson, Nick Gillespie and amateur Mathew Perry missed the cut.
