New Zealand golfer Danny Lee shot a three-over 75 in the opening round of the United States amateur championships in Minnesota yesterday.
Lee, 16, was in a share of 105th place after playing the tougher of the two courses being used, the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska.
Lee finds himself a remarkable 15 shots off the lead held by American Bill Horschel, who scored an 11-under 60 on the Chaska Town course.
The leading 64 players after today's second round qualify for matchplay.
