New Zealand teenager Lydia Ko has cruised into the round of 32 after beating American Lauren Dobashi four and three in the match play segment of the United States women's amateur golf championship this morning.
The 14-year-old world's top ranked amateur female was to meet either American Madeleine Sheils or Hawaiian Stephanie Kono later today at the 5851m Rhode Island Country Club course in Barrington, Rhode Island for a place in the round of 16.
Ko is trying to become the first New Zealand female to win the US crown and replicate the success of compatriot Danny Lee in the equivalent men's championship in 2008.
