New Zealand golf representative Jae An has qualified for the matchplay phase of the United States junior championships.
An, 17, from Rotorua is currently in a share of eighth place after the 36 hole strokeplay qualifying at the Longmeadow Golf Club in Massachusetts today (NZ time).
Inclement weather brought a premature end to the day's play with 60 players still left on the course, although An is assured of a qualifying spot.
The 2004 Aaron Baddeley world invitation junior champion shot a 36-hole total of 136, two-under par.
He followed his opening round even-par 70 with a two-under 68 that included five birdies and three bogeys.
The top 64 players qualify for the matchplay phase scheduled to start tomorrow with one round. There are two further rounds on Friday, quarterfinals and semifinals on Saturday with 36 hole final on Sunday.
