KEY POINTS:
New Zealand golfer Brad Iles' quest for his maiden title on the Nationwide Tour in the United States fizzled out today.
A closing round of three-over-par 74 saw Iles slip from seventh equal to a tie for 17th in the US$750,000 ($1.02 million) Children's Hospital Invitational in Columbus, Ohio.
He finished on even par 284 to be five shots behind the winner, American Bill Lunde.
Iles, who thrust himself into contention with a second round of five-under 66, could not repeat that form today as he bogeyed four holes, including two of the last three, alongside a lone birdie.
He recorded his best result in his rookie season on the second tier circuit a week ago when finishing eighth equal in the Price Cutter Charity Classic.
The other New Zealanders in the field, Phil Tataurangi and Grant Waite, finished 25th equal and 31st equal after rounds of 73 and 72 respectively.
