KEY POINTS:
New Zealand golfer Brad Iles emerged from a quiet period to finish seventh in the US$500,000 ($685,870) Beijing Open in China yesterday. It was his best result on the Asian Tour after becoming a fulltime member of the circuit last year.
Iles, 23 and appearing for just the third time on tour this season, posted a closing round of three-under 69 at the Pine Valley course for a tournament card of nine-under 279. It helped him to improve three placings on his overnight position and left him five shots behind the winner, India's Gaurav Chei. He was comfortably the best New Zealander, heading home compatriots Mark Brown, Stephen Scahill and Richard Lee.
