New Zealand golfer Gareth Paddison reminded others of his presence when finishing fifth in the Scottish Challenge in Scotland today.
Paddison's best result on European's second tier Challenge Tour since 2004 came despite a horror closing when he shelled six shots on the final five holes.
But it at least ended a barren season which had previously rewarded Paddison with a best placing of 36th equal.
The tall left-hander shot a closing round of even par 71 at the Murcar Links Golf Club to finish on eight-under 276, 10 shots behind the winner, Englishman Sam Walker.
The 2001 Australasian PGA Tour rookie of the year was second overnight, four shots behind Walker, who distanced himself from the field by shooting 65.
He finished six strokes clear of Scotsman Gareth Wright.
The only player to make ground on the overnight leader was Scottish amateur Richard Ramsay, who fired 62 to end in a share of fourth, three strokes ahead of Paddison.
For Paddison, 26, it was just his fifth top-10 placing since he joined the Challenge circuit in 2002.
He pocketed 12,000 euros ($25,608) for his toil, lifting his season's earnings to almost 18,000 euros from nine events and leaving him 52nd on the tour's moneylist.
