KEY POINTS:
SUTTON COLDFIELD, England - A last hole double bogey by England's Mark Foster breathed hope into New Zealand golfer Michael Campbell's chances in the British Masters at The Belfry today.
Foster was leading by four shots heading down the fairway at the last but then proceeded to put his second shot into the water guarding the green.
Foster eventually walked off with a double bogey 'six' for a round of 69 and a two-stroke lead on 10-under par.
Six players - Frenchman Gregory Bourdy (65), the Sweden trio of Niclas Fasth (67), Fredrik Andersson Hed (68) and Martin Erlandsson (70) along with Lee Westwood (70) and Ian Poulter (70) - are next best at eight under par.
Scotland's Colin Montgomerie (70) and Spain's Miguel Angel Jimenez (70) are next best on six under par and with Campbell well in contending frame on five under par.
Campbell began his round on two under par and got the start he needed in birding both the first and second holes of the former Ryder Cup host venue.
He picked up the third birdie of the round in holing a two metre putt at the shortened par four, 10th ahead of a bogey at 16 and then splashing out of a greenside bunker at 17 for birdie.
"It was a pretty easy 69 but in saying that, it as tough coming in and I thought if I could get to seven under I might have a chance," Campbell said.
He said the stumble by Foster had " brought a dozen players including myself back into the picture."
"Being five behind is now a lot different to being seven behind, so if I can get the sort of start I had today then it's game on."
