Galleries may be allowed on to the fairways at the Australian Open golf championship this year.
Tournament executive chairman Paul McNamee announced the initiative yesterday in a bid to get more people through the gates and get them closer to the action.
He proposes expanded crosswalks and fairway zones where galleries can gather behind players' drives and watch them hit their approach shots into the green.
