Kiwi golfer Daniel Hillier is through to the round of 32 at the US Amateur Championships at Pebble Beach in California.
The 20-year-old beat American Jacob Bergeron three and two in the first round of matchplay.
Hillier was two down after three holes before quickly pulling all square. He then won the 12th, 13th and 15th holes to secure the win.
Hillier won the strokeplay portion of the tournament, with Bergeron the last of the 64 to progress to the matchplay stage, having to play in a 24-man playoff earlier in the day to secure the final spot in matchplay.
The world No 27 and New Zealand's top-ranked amateur will be hoping to emulate compatriot Danny Lee's title run in 2008, and victory would book him entry to all four major tournaments next year.
