New Zealand golfer Michael Campbell is poised to pounce in the closing round of the US$300,000 ($430,540) China Masters in Beijing today.
The reigning US Open champion completed the third round yesterday just one shy of the leader, Retief Goosen, of South Africa.
Goosen and Campbell managed identical rounds of one-under-par 71, leaving Goosen on 14-under 202 for the tournament and Campbell on 203.
Campbell, who bogeyed two of his last four holes, climbed into contention with a seven-under 65 in the second round on Friday.
He is two clear of Australians Adam Blyth and David Bransdon, while the next best New Zealander is Mahal Pearce, who shot 69 to be in a share of 20th place on 212.
Eddie Lee was out of contention on 217 after posting 73 while Richard Lee managed 76 to be on 220.
