KEY POINTS:
New Zealand number one Michael Campbell has put together another consistent round of golf on the European Tour.
He shot a three under par 69 in the opening round of the British Masters this morning, to be two shots off the lead in a nine way tie for seventh. Campbell produced five birdies but was let down by a double bogey on the ninth.
Campbell has produced three top ten finishes in his last four tournaments, earning over $400,000 in the process.
Lee Westwood shrugged off the disappointment of last week's Ryder Cup defeat to move within a shot of the lead with a four-under-par 68 today.
The Englishman, despite suffering fatigue at the end of his round, claimed a share of third place behind joint leaders Marcus Fraser, of Australia, and Swede Mikael Lundberg.
The other kiwi in the field, Gareth Paddison, posted a disappointing 77.
