Michael Campbell and Lynette Brooky won the main honours at the New Zealand Golf Awards in Auckland last night.
Campbell, New Zealand's top-ranked world player, was awarded the Golfer of the Year title for the second time in a row, while Brooky took the Achievement of the Year honour.
The second annual awards dinner also honoured Sir Bob Charles, who plays in his final New Zealand Open this week, 50 years after his first Open victory at Heretaunga in 1954.
There was a special video presentation, and a number of guests, including American golf stars Dave Stockton and Jay Sigel, spoke about Charles' contribution to golf over half-a-century.
Campbell, ranked 44 in the world, enjoyed a mixed season.
After an unsuccessful stint on the United States PGA tour, he returned to his more familiar surrounds of Europe, where he took out his 12th tour victory, winning the Irish Open.
He also finished runner-up in the lucrative European Masters, finishing 15th on the European Order of Merit.
Brooky, who turns 36 this month, had another outstanding season, highlighted by her second win in the French Open.
She went on to record three top-10 finishes on the European tour to rank fifth on the European Order of Merit, her highest finish to date.
The French win was her third tour victory.
The top amateur awards went to 15-year-old Aucklander Enu Chung and Wellington golfer Bradley Iles.
Chung, the under-21 golfer of the year, was a key member of the New Zealand team in the Tasman Cup, Queen Sirikit Cup and the Commonwealth tournament in Auckland, where the New Zealand team finished second.
Iles enjoyed a remarkable start to the year with three rounds of 63 which led to wins in the South Island amateur and Wellington strokeplay tournaments, and second in Australia's Riverdale Cup.
The award for golf media, named after the late Brian Doherty who covered 35 New Zealand Open championships until his sudden death last year, went to Daily Post journalist Craig Tiriana, of Rotorua.
The annual Sir Bob Charles Scholarship Awards were presented to Marcus Agnew and Chantelle Webb, both of Auckland.
