Spanish golf legend Severiano Ballesteros has entered the French Open, to be held in a fortnight.
His name was today listed by the European Tour for the event at the Golf National in Versailles from June 29 to July 2. He has won the tournament four times.
Ballesteros, 49, has not played an official tour event since last October's Madrid Open, citing lack of proper practice for delaying the start to his season.
Last year in Madrid when he returned after an absence of two years, Ballesteros predicted he would play 10 to 12 tournaments in 2006 but that target in now highly unlikely.
Ballesteros has always insisted he would play this year's British Open, which he has won five times, after missing the major for the last four years.
His entry was confirmed by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club today.
Ballesteros plans to play at Royal Liverpool, Hoylake, on July 20-23 with his 16-year-old son as his caddie.
American Bobby Clampett is a surprise entry for the French Open.
The American, 46 and a CBS television presenter since 1991, retired from the PGA Tour in 1995 and has only played a handful of official events since.
This year he played the AT and T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am but missed the cut after three rounds in which he returned scores of 74, 73 and 76.
