West Ham players provided plenty of inspiration when radio personality Miles Davis had to name his six sons. First, there's William Robert Westham, named for players William "Billy" Bonds, Bobby Moore, and - you can guess the rest.
Next is Charles Neil Brooking, named for midfielder Trevor Brooking, third is Rhett England. Fourth is Connor, who doesn't have a Hammers-inspired name but supports the club all the same. Second-youngest Jack Lewis Redknapp was named after heavyweight champ and West Ham supporter Lennox Lewis, and former player-coach Harry Redknapp. Youngest is Cole Billy Hurst Boleyn. Think players Joe Cole, Billy Bonds (again) and Geoff Hurst, who scored a famous hat-trick in the 1966 World Cup final.
Davis also coaches the Takapuna Hammers, West Ham centre back Winston Reid's old club.
Davis said the Hammers' visit should boost the club's profile and fan base here. "If it goes well this time, I can imagine we'll see other teams in future years."
Davis hopes to catch today's training session at North Harbour Stadium. The sessions starts at 11.30am and a meet-and-greet follows.
