PARIS (AP) The French league has banned Saint-Etienne fans from traveling to away games until the end of the year following violent clashes in last Sunday's game at Nice.
Saint-Etienne fans ripped up seats and threw them at Nice fans before converging to clash with the opposing spectators in the stands, leading to several minor injuries.
The LFP said in a statement Wednesday that it has decided "to close the visitors' enclosure for Saint-Etienne's away games until the end of the year."
That means that no Saint-Etienne fans will be allowed to attend next Wednesday's game at Rennes, the trip to Montpellier on Dec. 13 and the League Cup game at Paris Saint-Germain five days later.
The LFP will meet Thursday to decide on any further punishments.
