"Flight for pretty much 24 hours, in the hotel then nothing really to do. Some of us tried to sleep, then drive one hour 45 or something from the hotel.
"It was the most intense football trip for an away game I've ever had.
"I had no idea how the players would do it, then I was surprised ... the goals were really difficult to defend, they were brilliant."
The win came with retired pair Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher on the field, before the duo were replaced by fellow veterans Steve McManaman and Daniel Agger.
Klopp joked the quartet "behaved really well" on the team's charter flight and that they had a five-minute meeting about the game before setting them loose.
The German's answer was more serious when asked if he expected more from A-League champions Sydney.
"They won the double two weeks ago and (had) one week off," Klopp said.
"We have a better football team than Sydney FC, that should not be a surprise. We would have had to make a lot of mistakes.
"We came here to show ourselves and we are really thankful Sydney FC gave us the opportunity two weeks after the end of the season, so nobody should talk about them.
"And they were missing a lot of players. So Sydney FC's second team should be better than Liverpool? That's crazy."
Sydney coach Graham Arnold conceded it's been an uphill battle keeping his squad motivated two weeks after their grand-final triumph, but said Liverpool's quality was a valuable "reality check" for his younger players.
"It's been tough the last two weeks to keep the boys going after the grand final, but give them the credit for doing their best," Arnold said."It's time for a holiday, we've had a long season."
