Andre Gray has apologised for calling for homosexuals to be 'burned' in one of a number of vile tweets which surfaced overnight.
The 25-year-old scored his first Premier League goal during Burnley's 2-0 victory over Liverpool at Turf Moor but will be warned by the club over his future conduct.
The hate-filled tweets, which were from his verified account, were posted in 2012 when he was playing for non-League Hinckley Town.
The Football Association have been passed the posts and several have been deleted from his account.
One read "is it me or are there gays everywhere? #Burn #Die #MakesMeSick,' while another read: "Ladies stop dressing your sons as women in heels and make up. Do you want him to end up like Pete Burns? #Faggot".
