GENEVA - Striker Michael Owen scored twice in the dying minutes to give England a stunning 3-2 comeback victory over old rivals Argentina in a thrilling international friendly this morning (NZT).
Striker Hernan Crespo, who plays his club football for English champions Chelsea, gave Argentina a 35th minute lead.
England's Wayne Rooney levelled four minutes later and Walter Samuel looked to have won it in the 54th minute by putting Argentina 2-1 up.
But Owen, who signalled his arrival on the game's biggest stage with a wonder goal against Argentina at the 1998 World Cup, headed an 87th minute equaliser and followed up by nodding in a stoppage time winner.
