Liverpool have signed England under-21 soccer goalkeeper Scott Carson from Championship side Leeds United.
Carson, 19, has signed a four-year deal with Liverpool, who did not give details of the fee.
The move follows criticism of erratic Polish keeper Jerzy Dudek, who cost Liverpool a 0-1 defeat by Manchester United last weekend, while Chris Kirkland is out for three months with a back problem.
Carson is Liverpool's third move in the January transfer window after signing striker Fernando Morientes from Real Madrid and Argentine defender Mauricio Pellegrino from Valencia.
