Steve Kean, given his first managerial job in English soccer's Premier League when Blackburn Rovers sacked Sam Allardyce last month, has signed a contract to stay at the club until June 2013.
Kean, 43, took over in a caretaker capacity and was initially given the manager's role until the end of the season.
Blackburn, who are at home to West Bromwich Albion this weekend, are 11th in the league with 28 points.
