KEY POINTS:
London - Tottenham Hotspur and Middlesbrough were charged by the Football Association (FA) today with failing to control their players following a mass brawl during an English premier league soccer game at White Hart Lane.
"The charges relate to a mass confrontation in the 86th minute of the match at White Hart Lane on Tuesday night (UK time). The clubs have until December 21 to respond," the FA said.
Middlesbrough, who lost the match 1-2, have appealed against midfielder George Boateng's red card for violent conduct.
The case would be heard tomorrow, the FA said.
Boateng and Tottenham defender Didier Zokora were sent off late in the game after scuffles on the touchline.
