MEXICO CITY (AP) Reigning champion America will play for its twelfth league title and a chance to become Mexico's most successful club after booking a spot against Leon in the Apertura tournament final.
America defeated Toluca 2-0 to take a 3-2 aggregate victory Sunday, while Leon drew 2-2 against Santos Laguna to win 5-3 over the two legs.
Mexico City team America is currently tied with Guadalajara rival Chivas on eleven league titles, while Leon, which was promoted to the first division in 2012, hasn't won a championship since 1992.
The first leg of the final is scheduled to be played on Thursday in Leon, with the return leg in Estadio Azteca next Sunday.
Colombian Aquivaldo Mosquera headed in America's first in the 13th minute before Jesus Molina sealed the win with a header six minutes from the final whistle.
