KEY POINTS:
All Whites striker Chris Killen faces a long spell on the sidelines after rupturing an Achilles tendon playing for his Scottish club Hibernian in a cup match against Aberdeen.
Killen has been in prolific form in the Scottish Premier League this season, netting 15 times for Hibs to be the club's top goal scorer.
Hibs boss John Collins told the BBC website Killen would not play again this season.
"I don't know how it happened but it looks like it's a torn Achilles tendon," he said. "First and foremost, our thoughts are with him."
Killen joined Hibs from Oldham last January, having left Manchester City in 2002.
He is out of contract at the end of the season but the club had offered him a new deal at the start of this week, which they have already said they will honour, the BBC reported.
"Chris has been scoring goals for us left, right and centre," Collins said.
"It's probably the best period in his career goals-wise."
