Soccer star Ryan Nelsen's future with the All Whites and English club Blackburn Rovers is up in the air.
The part Nelsen will play in Rovers' clash with New Zealand at Ewood Park on Sunday morning has yet to be confirmed and so, it now seems, is his future with the club.
The Daily Telegraph has reported that Blackburn manager Mark Hughes is monitoring Dutch defender Andre Ooijer to cover for Nelsen, who has refused to sign a new contract.
The same story said Nelsen was being chased by Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp.
Nelsen was quoted as saying he was flattered by his possible £5 million ($15 million) valuation.
"It's nice to think that someone thinks you are all right, but you have to put that out of your mind."
All Whites coach Ricki Herbert is waiting to talk to Hughes to finalise Nelsen's role in Sunday's game.
Nelsen told Herbert he believed Rovers remained open to his putting country before club.
Nelsen, who has missed Blackburn's pre-season friendlies as he recovers from a hamstring injury, has not played for the All Whites since the Oceania Nations Cup tournament in Adelaide more than two years ago.
"It's been far too long," said Nelsen. "Now I have established myself at the club. I want to get back at an international level."
