New Zealand striker Chris Killen is content to remain on the Celtic books despite a continuing lack of game time with the Scottish Premier League soccer giants.
Speculation that Killen would leave the famous Glasgow club proved wide of the mark after the European transfer deadline closed overnight (NZT).
The 27-year-old was closely linked with English Championship club Doncaster Rovers, while Coventry City and Bristol City were also suggested as possible destinations.
However, the All Whites marksman is staying put, hopeful of usurping Australian Scott McDonald, Frenchman Marc-Antoine Fortune and Georgios Samaras of Greece for a place in the starting 11.
Killen can point to some excellent pre-season performances. He scored five goals in six games, including a double against Brisbane Roar in Brisbane last month which earned rave reviews from new manager Tony Mowbray.
"I'm happy at the club and I've got off to a good start pre-season," Killen told reporters today.
"I think it's a good place for me to be."
Since joining Celtic in June 2007, Killen has scored just one goal in three starts and 25 substitute appearances for the first team in Scottish Premier League, Cup and European games.
He has come off the bench in the three Premier League games this season, racking up 56 minutes of total field time.
