Hungary took advantage of their second-half dominance to beat New Zealand 2-0 in a soccer friendly in Budapest today.
The All Whites, in their European tour opener, had done well to go into the break level (0-0) with their hosts on a wet Szusza Ferenc Stadium.
But a defensive error led to Hungary's opening goal in the 48th minute, with Szabolcs Huszti producing a tidy finish from a tight angle.
The Hungarians doubled their advantage with a nicely worked effort in the 80th minute.
Striker Imre Szabics finished from close range after good lead-up work from Zoltan Gera and Csaba Feher.
The margin might have been greater, but All White 'keeper Glen Moss pulled off a fine penalty save from Vilmer Sebok in the 76th minute, after Kris Bouchenooghe had brought down Huszti just inside the box.
New Zealand did create chances, including a drive early in the match from Hibernian Chris Killen that 'keeper Gebor Kiray couldn't hold.
But by the latter stages of the contest, it was Hungary doing most of the attacking.
The match marked Killen and fellow European-based professional Ivan Vicelich's return to international football after a four-year and a two-year absence respectively.
New Zealand have three further internationals on their tour -- against Georgia on Monday morning (NZ time), Estonia next Thursday morning and world champions Brazil on June 5.
For Hungary, the match was their first under new coach Peter Bozsik and was a build-up to a friendly against England next week.
The upcoming fixture in Manchester has personal significance for Bozsik, whose father, the late Jozsef Bozsik, scored in Hungary's legendary 6-3 win over England in Wembley in 1953.
