Belgium-based midfielder/striker Kris Bouckenooghe will start for the All Whites team in this morning's second match with Chile in Calera.
In a minor reshuffle, coach Ricki Herbert has moved Noah Hickey to right fullback allowing Steven Old to join captain Danny Hay in a central defensive role.
Waikato FC defender Che Bunce drops to the substitutes bench.
"We could see no need for wholesale changes," said Herbert from Santiago last night. "We have put a bit of pressure on the players to perform better than they did in the first game.
"Kris Bouckenooghe has done well here and this is chance to see more of him."
Herbert said they hoped to try a few different things including being more aggressive if, as happened in the first game, they went ahead.
"We want players to get forward," he said. "They want to do well but at the same time don't want to make mistakes. We want them to express themselves."
The tour was about the bigger picture, Herbert said.
"The players know we have up to 14 players who are not here for one reason or another and who will come into the reckoning when it comes to selecting the 20 players we will take to Europe for the May-June matches including the game against Brazil [on June 4]."
Herbert said that while he could understand disappointment at the first-up 4-1 loss, there was more to these games than just results.
He admitted that at times during the loss in Rancagua his players had been tentative but said that was understandable given the pressure of the occasion, the limited preparation and the quality of the opposition.
New Zealand Soccer chief executive Graham Seatter, in Chile with the All Whites, is still seeking conformation of additional games in Europe.
