BRATISLAVA, Slovakia (AP) Slovak police say two players from topflight club FC Nitra are suspected of match-fixing.
In a Monday statement, police say the players allegedly agreed to fix a friendly against Hungary's MTK Budapest on Feb. 1, 2011, which MTK won 6-3, and another friendly seven days later against Czech side Bohemians 1905, which Nitra lost 2-1.
Investigators say they believe the players were paid at least 5,000 euros ($6,750) for making sure MTK won by at least two goals while scoring at least four goals. They also accepted at least 5,000 euros to ensure at least three goals were scored in the match against Bohemians.
The players, who were not identified, face up to eight years in prison for accepting bribes. Another two people are suspected of paying the bribes.
