BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe - The Netherlands, chasing an unlikely 302 to win, rode their luck with some cavalier batting to reach 127 for five in the 31st over of their World Cup Group A match against Zimbabwe on Friday (South African time).
Edgar Schiferli, dropped on eight, set the tone before he was bowled by Heath Streak for a brisk 22 but the positive Dutch approach was maintained by Bas Zuiderent (15) and Luuk van Troost (a 25-ball 26).
Earlier, a run-a-ball 71 from Andy Flower, an even quicker 58 from Andy Blignaut and a 22-ball 44 from captain Streak lifted Zimbabwe to 301 for eight after their 50 overs.
The left-handed Flower, who struck seven fours in 72 balls, put the home side in early control before Blignaut raced to his second fifty of the World Cup with seven boundaries in 32 balls.
