UPDATE - South Africa edged to 229-6 after 45 overs chasing 269 to beat Sri Lanka in World Cup Group B this morning as rain forced the players off the field.
Mark Boucher, who added 63 for the sixth wicket with his captain Shaun Pollock (25), was unbeaten on 45 with Lance Klusener on one as the hosts chased the win they need to stay in the tournament.
Earlier, Marvan Atapattu struck a flawless 124 to help Sri Lanka post a formidable total of 268-9. Atapattu shared a run-a-ball fourth-wicket partnership of 152 with Aravinda de Silva who contributed a fluent 73.
