Andrew Symonds scored 76 yesterday to help Australia to a one-wicket victory over South Africa in the fourth of five one-day internationals.
Symonds' dismissal in the 43rd over left Nathan Bracken, Stuart Clark and Mick Lewis to get the final 29 runs with five balls remaining, evening the series at 2-2 with just tonight's match in Johannesburg remaining.
Symonds, who missed the first three matches of the series with a hip injury, faced just 71 balls for his best-ever score against South Africa. He swung momentum to Australia in the 38th over off the bowling of Graeme Smith, smashing two sixes against the South African captain in his second over.
A rattled Smith subsequently bowled three wides to allow Australia to take 19 runs from the over and get comfortably ahead of the required run rate.
Roger Telemachus kept South Africa in the match after Adam Gilchrist and Simon Katich raced to 87 for the opening partnership.
The decider is overnight this evening in Johannesburg.
