George Worker doesn't have long to make an impression.
One-day cricket has been his pet format during his seven-and-a-half seasons on the first-class scene and the 25-year-old has taken that to another level this summer.
The Central Districts opener has made three centuries - including a 194 against Canterbury - and a 71 in his first six innings of the Ford Trophy competition but there are only eight rounds, which is a limited window for those with one-day international ambitions.
Opening batsmen are always in short supply in New Zealand and, although the World Cup squad is locked in, Worker's name may come up in future conversations when Black Caps coach Mike Hesson and national selection manager Bruce Edgar discuss their squad for the trip to England in May and June.
Worker first played for CD in his final year at Palmerston North Boys' High School in 2007 and many thought he would thrive as an opener in the longer form.
