Basketball: Tall Fern signs new WNBL deal

Tall Ferns basketballer Jess Bygate has agreed to a new deal with the Melbourne Boomers WNBL side for the upcoming season.

Bygate spent last season playing for the Adelaide Lightning and also had some time in the local Melbourne league.

"We welcome Jess Bygate to the Melbourne Boomers family after an excellent Big V season with Sunbury and a strong performance at our recent sessions," said Boomers coach Guy Molloy.

"Jess experienced WNBL play with Adelaide last season and, as a New Zealand international, is used to matching up on bigger, physical players. She will add good defense and rebounding to our front line," added Molloy.

Bygate was stoked to confirm her future.

"I am so excited to be joining the Boomers and be a part of a club that really embodies such a strong family culture," said a beaming Jess.

"I am very thankful for the opportunity to be a part of the WNBL again, it's such a competitive league, and with the guidance of Guy Molloy and the Boomers coaching staff I hope to develop my game and play with some of the best in the business."
