The organisers of the Greater Manchester Marathon have been caught short. By 380m to be exact.
Three years worth of Greater Manchester Marathon times have now been declared invalid, following a discovery that the course used between 2013 and 2015 was too short, the BBC reports.
The Association of UK Course Measurers (AUKCM) have since corrected the error in time for this years race, held on 10 April, but the error means that the times of 24,000 runners between 2013 and 2015 will not be recognised.
The mistake resulted in the course being 15 yards short of 26 miles - a legitimate marathon measures in 26 miles, 385 yards.
Marathon courses are measured out using a bicycle with a counter fitted onto it, calculating the distance by the turning of the wheels.
