The Rotorua Bay Trust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Matakana Island to attend a motor vehicle accident just after midnight.
A 34-year-old man received lower leg injuries and a 49-year-old man received neck and chest injuries as the result of a head on collision with one another. The two were airlifted to Tauranga Hospital for further treatment.
The helicopter crew was called out around 6.30pm yesterday to the Pongakawa Race Course to attend an injured motocross rider.
The 49-year-old Te Puke man fell from his bike and suffered a concussion as well as chest injuries. He was airlifted to Tauranga Hospital for further treatment and observation.
