Rachael Dixon was one of the first girls to be allowed into the scouting movement - so it seemed only natural her daughter Bella would follow in mum's footsteps.
When Bella joined all those in her group were girls, the leader a female too. It was a far cry from her mum's day when she was the only girl.
"For me I was a bit of a tomboy but that doesn't mean you have to be. It was about the adventure, something different and exciting."
While times have changed, Rachael says the skills and foundations are still the same. "She [Bella] has especially loved going on the camps."
Rachael says the positive spinoff of Bella going on camps from when she joined at 7, was that when it came time for school camps Rachael knew Bella would be fine. "The motto is really simple - be prepared. She's definitely gained confidence from being quite a shy, reserved child when she joined."
