Rotorua BMX Club will host its traditional February meeting at the Te Ngae Rd track tomorrow."We run it in line with the Bike Festival because we see it as a very good fit," said club president Kylee Stevens.
Some years, but not this, the meeting has had national championship qualifying status. But a qualifying meeting in Tauranga today is likely to boost numbers for tomorrow's event with riders looking for two days of competition over the weekend.
"Numbers are not huge like they sometimes are - there will be 300-plus in Tauranga - but we are still looking at 120-150 riders."
With plenty of new members this year, as well as the out-of-town competition Stevens is unsure which locals are likely to do well, but there should be plenty of them on show.
"The club's growing, which is fantastic, Wednesday and Thursday nights at the club have been pumping," she said.
