Linton Park Community Centre co-ordinator Rick Mansell says he is humbled at being presented with a Rotorua Community Leadership Award, but believes he could not have done it without the many volunteers that support him.
The Canadian expat has made a significant impact in Rotorua through his involvement in many boards and organisations.
The father of six and grandfather of two led the vision and development of the Linton Park Community Centre, which took over the Rotorua West Bowling Club after it fell into financial problems three years ago.
The community centre has been very successful. It attracts more than 500 people a week, has more than 75 gardens, two activity halls and the renovation is still ongoing.
Mr Mansell is also a volunteer co-ordinator at the Rotary North Club Saturday Market, which is the largest single on-going event in Rotorua. More than 2,000 people attend.
