Rotorua golfer Danny Lee will have mixed feelings after qualifying for week two of the Fed Ex Cup Playoffs on the PGA Tour.
The 24-year-old professional carded a two-over par 73 in the final round of The Barclays in New Jersey yesterday to finish in a share of 38th place, 11 shots back from the champion Hunter Mahan. Lee advanced from 116th on the Fed Ex Cup standings to 96th and inside the top 100 players who will compete next week at the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston.
But it could have been so much better for the former US Amateur Champion.
Lee began the final round superbly. He was three-under par through his opening five holes at the Ridgewood Country Club to get to 8-under par and into a share of third place.
The former World No1 amateur, who opened with rounds of 67, 71 and 70 to be in contention, made six bogeys and a birdie in his final 10 holes for a forgettable finish.
