Police were today back at the scene of a fatal road accident in Auckland, trying to piece together the chain of events that claimed the life of a female passenger last night.
The woman, whose name has not yet been released, died after a head-on collision between a four-wheel-drive and a car in Chapel Rd, East Tamaki.
She was a front-seat passenger in one of the vehicles.
A Counties-Manukau police spokesman said details remained sketchy and working out the cause of the crash could take some time.
"We are going to have to go back to the scene and look at the vehicles again," he said.
"You get cases that are straightforward. This one isn't. All I can say is that there were two vehicles and it was frontal."
He was unable to confirm how many people were involved in the 8.40pm incident or which vehicle the woman was travelling in.
