Top TVNZ executive Shaun Brown is leaving the state broadcaster after a tense seven-week standoff since his job was axed.
He walks on Friday with an undisclosed sum of money, tipped by employment experts to be a few hundred thousand dollars.
Mr Brown spent nine months as head of television on an annual salary, reported to be $340,000, before the position was eliminated by chief executive Ian Fraser.
TVNZ would not discuss its contract with Mr Brown, including whether it was for a fixed term and what redundancy provisions were contained in the agreement. The contract was negotiated with the former chief executive Rick Ellis.
TVNZ also refused to say whether Mr Brown would be paid as a consultant after his departure.
A statement released yesterday said he would offer advice to the company "for a further period of time."
Mr Fraser has created a new role, head of programmes. Mr Brown said he had decided not to apply for the job.
