The SKYCITY Breakers roster rebuild continues for the 2018/19 season, with the retention of Tall Black forward Jordan Ngatai on a two-year deal, bringing to six the number of players contracted for the new season.
Ngatai brings an athleticism and outside shooting game that is set to blossom in the NBL, highlighted by the 17 points scored against Sydney in February. He has made himself a regular member of the Tall Blacks, as a starter at the FIBA Asia Cup last year, and won bronze with the national team at the recent Commonwealth Games.
The 25-year-old cant wait to return to Breakers colours and says he is ready for more minutes and increased responsibility.
"Signing a new deal with the SKYCITY Breakers, its awesome. Being back with the Breakers family is an environment I am familiar with, it will be great. Ive got high hopes for this upcoming season.
"For sure I think Im ready. As for goals Ill look at those closer to the season but as long as I stay aggressive good things always seem to happen."
The proud Porirua export is also looking forward to hooking up again with Kevin Braswell, his coach at the Wellington Saints in the Sals NBL.
"KB has been great for me and my development. Hes always telling me to just stay aggressive and go and play. Hes always the one saying good things happen when you stay aggressive, whether it be me scoring or by me being aggressive my teammates are open."
As free agency continues, the following players are now contracted to the SKYCITY Breakers for the 2018/19 season:
Shea Ili, Jarrad Weeks, Tom Abercrombie, Jordan Ngatai, Finn Delany, Alex Pledger
